Endangered Saiyans

Part 13

The four Saiyans and one half Saiyan flew and flew, till they found themselves out in a vast, empty desert.

"Perfect," Goku said, and landed on a narrow platue. Gohan landed on a similarly small platue, facing his father. Radditz, Turles, and Nappa floated not far off.

"What do we do, first?" Gohan asked, realizing that, now that he was here, he had no clue as to how to start off.

"Give me a second to concentate, first," Goku said, closing his eyes and clenching his fists. Slowly, he reopened his eyes, and said with a strained voice, "Okay. Try tossing a small, slow moving chi blast. Try a weaker one first. We'll work our way up from there."

"Okay," Gohan said, forming a small ball of energy a few inches above his hand. He drew back, and sort of tossed the blast to Goku.

"Good," Goku said, and lowered his body, hands ready to recieve. He looked like a catcher in baseball (forgive me if I used the wrong word, I'm not in the least familiar with the sport.) The chi ball moved slowly (for a chi blast) toward Goku. It struck Goku in the hands, and there was a flash of light.

Turles covered his eyes to avoid being blinded. When he put his arm down, he was surprised to see Kakarot floating in the same place he had been standing earlier. The only difference, now, was that the little platue he had been standing on was completely demolished. Where the platue once had been, there was now a thirty foot crater.

"Jeez," Radditz said quietly, "And that was a 'weaker' blast."

"It didn't work, did it," Gohan looked dissapointed.

"Not really, but that was only a first try!" Goku said reassuringly to his son, "C'mon! Try again!"

Goku dropped back into his 'catcher' possition, and smiled. Gohan formed another chi ball above his hand, and released it at Goku as slowly as he possibly could. It moved at a pace that could easily be followed by the naked eye. Goku closed his eyes and concentrated as hard a he possibly could. Turles was ready to have to sheild his eyes again, but was surprised when, instead of exploding, the little chi blast dissapeared the moment it touched Goku's hands. One minute it was a bright, shining ball of energy, the next minute, it seemed to ceace to exist.

Goku's eyes popped open, and his head snapped back, as though he had been shocked with electricity. Instantly, he arched his back like a marrionette who's strings had been pulled, and he was enveloped in a visible aura. The bright, shining aura glimmered for an instant, then shot off of Goku like a rocket. There was an explotion, and when the smoke cleared, there was another thirty foot crater, and Goku was on his hands and knees, gasping.

Gohan flew to Goku's side, face riddled with concern.

"Dad! Are you-"

"I'm fine!" Goku interupted, rocking back on his heels, "Jus' gimme a second....."

Gohan watched his father closly as his breathing evened out, and his face relaxed.

"W-what happened?" Gohan asked, trying to find some way to help his dad.

Goku shrugged off Gohan's help, and stood up slowly, "I had the power for a minute, but.....I couldn't hang onto it. My power increased to fast.......like when I use Kaio ken too high. I had to release it."

"Maybe we should stop-" Gohan started to say.

"No!" Goku said so loud that Gohan flinched. Goku said in a gentler tone, "I'm fine. Really. It just took me by surprise. C'mon, I want to try that again."

Gohan hesitantly agreed, and floated back into the air a couple hundred feet. Goku matched his altitude, and readied himself.

Radditz, Turles and Nappa were......speachless. They were indeed witnessing something amazing.

"We're seeing the birth of what will probably be one of the greatest moves in history," Radditz said quietly.

Turles nodded silently. Nappa said after a moment, "Kinda makes you proud it's a Saiyan who discovered it, huh?"

"If father could see this now......," Radditz said slowly.

Gohan tossed his weakest attack at his father. Goku concentrated again, and, like last time, he absorbed the chi blast. This time, instead of letting the power overtake him, Goku thrust his hands forward, and unleashed a controled chi blast similar, to the one he had just recieved. There was another explotion, but this time, Goku was still air born, and his breath was hardly strained at all.

"Did it work," Gohan said, floating over to Goku.

Goku grinned his biggest grin, and said, "Yup. I may have had it for only a few seconds, but I DID have it. I DID control it."

"Then.....it's possible!! Oh, WOW, dad, do you know how great this is!?" Gohan said excitedly, "You won't die any more! No more wishing people back with the Dragonballs!! Yee-hah!"

"I'll still die, with time....." Goku said, eyes clouded over in wonder, "But now I know Goten won't have to grow up without a father ever again....."

Gohan nodded, he had known all too well about the feelings Goten had felt while Goku was dead. He had asked Gohan about his father almost every night before he went to bed, though during the day, he never let anyone know something was bothering him. Then, when he thought he was alone in his room, he would ask himself out loud if his father even cared he existed. When Goku returned, Goten seemed to bloom. He opened, and for the first time felt whole. Now, Gohan thought, none of them would ever have to worry about losing their Goku.......ever, ever again.

They both took their positions, and started all over again. Gohan kept the chi blasts coming, while Goku continued to absorb most of them, holding them in for longer and longer amounts of time. Then, finally, Goku absorbed a blast, and didn't show any signs of needing to release it. He battled his aura for a while, then was able to gain control. He pushed his chi down, and felt rather sure he had caught, absorbed, and smothered the attack tossed to him.

Just to be sure there was no after affect of keeping someone else's, Goku called for a time out. Gohan lowered his chi, and flew to the ground. His actions were followed by Goku, Turles, Radditz, and Nappa.

"Wow!" Goku patted his body, "I feel great! All that power I got feel kinda' funny......but in a good way! Woo! I feel it in my veins."

Gohan laughed. Goku seemed to not fully understand the big picture......but he was the one who thought it up! Gohan wondered, sometimes, if Goku accually DID understand, but just didn't show it. Goku seemed so oblivious at times, it was surprising how he always kept his head when it came down to fighting...........or anything related to it.

Radditz opened his mouth, closed it, then opened it again, and approached Goku and Gohan.

"How....exactly DID you do that?" he asked, then added, "It was really.....ah.....interesting."

"Thanks!" Goku said proudly. Gohan stopped smiling, and quickly turned his head away from facing his uncle. It seemed so wierd, having someone like that around. Gohan wondered how Goku could so easily accept them. Gohan sighed, and reminded himself that this WAS Goku.

"It really isn't that hard......once you learn how to gather energy for a Genki dama," Goku said, watching the sky as though he expected to find the answer there.

"Genki........?" Nappa said, scratching his bald head.

"It's a move that can only be done by people with no evil in thier heats," Goku said, almost solomnly.

"Oh," Radditz said, and wandered away to confer with the other two Saiyans.

"Well that was wierd-" Gohan started to say.

Goku vaulted to his feet, and almost seemed to raise his hands agenst his will. He unleashed a chi blast that flew off into the distance and behind some mountains. There was silence for a second, and everyone(including Goku) stared rather surprised at the horizone the chi blast had dissapeared behind. The mountaind exploded, and when the distant dust settled, the mountains had been completely obliterated.

"Heh. Sorry," Goku looked down at his hand that had fired the attack, "Hmmmm, guess the power gets bigger when you just hang onto it. This is one power you just aren't supposed to sit on, I guess. Woo."
